We sell Kevlar sewing threads in both industrial size cones and domestic bobbin sizes and in a variety of widths. Kevlar threads are incredibly strong and flame resistant (up to 425°C). They are ideal for sewing kevlar and other flame proof fabrics and wicks and for those who need exceptionally strong sewing threads (kevlar is up to 5 times stronger than steel). Kevlar threads are used in racing car driver suits, furnace and blast equipment clothes, cut and ballistic protection wear, fire-fighter protective wear, oven gloves (!) and fire juggling and circus equipment etc. etc. etc.

These kevlar threads are suitable for either hand sewing or sewing machines but please note that the thicker threads may not be suitable for some domestic sewing machines. They are not waxed and they are not suitable for unravelling to produce magicians’ invisible thread. The higher the Tex number, the thicker the thread. Tex-40 is equivalent to most ‘normal’ domestic sewing thread widths.

Please note that all kevlar products are effected by strong UV light and will lose strength if left exposed for long periods. Kevlar will also degrade rapidly in contact with chlorine so avoid contact with bleach (and swimming pools!).
